Virus protection "off" yet AVASt says it is on?
Remember - This is a public forum so never post private information such as email or phone numbers!Ideas:Hello;I have Windows XP home edition. I currently have AVAST on it. Recently, despite having Avast, the little red shield icon popped up, warning I had no virus protection. When I went into the control panel, it reads that the virus protection is off. I can't enable it using the arrow on it. I wonder if this has something to do with my 8 yr old complaining the computer "went weird" (I have told her not to download any new games, etc). I ran HijackThis and it alerted me to something called Mywebsearch on the computer--I did notice there is a new toolbar. My 8 yr old must have downloaded some game of something and now I wonder how to get it off, and how to enable virus protection again (strangely, AVAST reads as fully enabled). pls help!Programs you are having problems with Error messages Recent changes you made to your computer What you have already tried to fix the problem 1 person needs an answerI do too

that tool bar is listed as a spy-mal ware-so down load and run- FREE REVO UN INSTALLER- click on tool bar and follow instructions to totally remove all traces of tool bar.then turn off AVAST then turn on again- go to security centre and check ouT AV recommendations. http://www.revouninstaller.com/revo_uninstaller_free_download.html
